Surprises
“Surprise yourself with goodness.” ~Two Good Yogurt Company
Where does inspiration come from? For today’s post, mine came from the quote printed inside the foil lid of my morning yogurt (Black Cherry flavor, in case you were wondering 😉). There’s always something uplifting or inspiring printed on their labels. It’s just one of the things I love about the Two Good products. They provide a healthy breakfast along with a hearty dose of encouragement. Today, I have the joy of sharing their words with you.
So what have you done that’s been a surprise to you? Perhaps you sponsor a child’s basic needs through monetary donations. Or maybe you volunteer with a philanthropic organization. Or you might be a foster parent or work in an industry that supports others. I think all of those acts are filled with goodness. But can we find ways to spread goodness without throwing loads of money at an organization or activity? Are there ways to spread goodness on a budget? Let me answer that - Sure there are!
Being kind to a server, a grocery story clerk, the mail carrier, and any other service industry employee is a simple way to spread goodness and it cost you nothing! Making a favorite dish for someone or calling to check on a friend are also simple ways to spread goodness. Being a listening ear or providing encouragement to someone during times of struggle are also activities filled with goodness.
Today, I challenge each of us (myself included) to find a way to “surprise yourself with goodness.” It doesn’t have to be a large, expensive act. Simply set an intention to find ways to share the best of yourself with others. Then, follow through! Remember, intentions are great, but only if we act upon them. That requires us to “be present” in our interactions with others. It means paying attention and thinking critically about each situation in which we find ourself. This isn’t always easy, is it? Our minds generally have a thousand thoughts racing through them at any given time. Looking beyond all that can be challenging. The rewards for doing so will be huge though, for the recipient of the goodness as well as for us. So, go out and be surprised!
To all of you who read these blogs, thank you. Writing for you has really helped me to become more intentional in my own life. I hope that in so doing, I am spreading some goodness. 😊 Have a ‘good’ day!
Love this!! Be intentional. Serve others. Love others.
